About Imagining Staffordshire
A project by Staffordshire Libraries in 2009-2010. This project has now ended, so no more photographs can be added to this collection.
We have asked people to contribute pictures that show the events that people often don’t think are worth photographing (buying food at the market), or the things that people take an interest in locally (when Woolworths closed its doors, for example).
The small details of your daily life in Staffordshire, such as chatting with friends over lunch or a coffee, cleaning the house/car, and day trips out, as well as things like shop window displays, street scenes, and clothes, will be incredibly interesting to family and local historians in only a few years’ time. You only need to look at the amount of current interest in the 1970s and 80s! Fashions, pastimes, music and technology have all changed our daily lives enormously.
We would also like images of Staffordshire itself: whether it is of a new building going up, an old one falling into disrepair and decay, or one of the many beautiful landscapes in Staffordshire's countryside, it will be a welcome addition to this project.
