About the illuminated crowd
Raymond Mason describes the sculpture as the following :
" A crowd has gathered, facing a light, an illumination brought about by a fire, an event, an ideology - or an ideal. The strong light casts shadows, and as the light moves toward the back and diminishes, the mood degenerates; rowdiness, disorder and violence occur, showing the fragile nature of man. Illumination, hope, involvement, hilarity, irritation, fear, illness, violence, murder and death - the flow of man's emotion through "
When described as such you realize how accurately Mason has captured all these various moods, as well as the relativety to reality.
They are all looking or faced with the same "situation" and their reactions are as unique as each individual. sounds like real life.
perspective is everything. Everyone sees the same thing differently. This is the very fact of our existence. to show how reality differs from person to person I´ve decided to start a group of a certain monument in Montreal called ¨the illuminated Crowd¨. I´ve seen atleast different views of the same monument. I think it would be very interesting see how different people see the same thing differently. please post only this specific monument on Mcgill street. Also what does this monument make you think of? what are they pointing at?
