About Ijtema.net Photo Contest - New Year, New Hope
Welcome to the first ever photo contest run by Ijtema.net, a Congregation of Muslim Bloggers.
In keeping with the general goals of Ijtema.net, the aim of this friendly competition is to promote the talent that exists within the Muslim community, as a means of reaching out to the wider world through the universal language of art and beauty. In order to make this project a success, we encourage everyone to join in, no matter what level of skill you think you possess. As long as you have access to a camera, and the internet, we welcome your contribution!
In addition, every entrant will be added to Ijtema’s new database of Muslim artists, which the editors will refer to when searching for content to post in our soon-to-be-launched Photography & Art section. So there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking part, insha’Allah.
The Theme: New Year, New Hope
With the dawning of a new calendar year, both Gregorian, and Hijri, people once again begin to reflect on their present state, looking towards their futures with anticipation, whilst hoping to move beyond the troubles of the past. To commemorate this special time, the editors of ijtema.net are asking entrants to submit images which they believe to symbolise "hope".
The deadline for submissions is February 29th 2008. Thereafter, the entries will be judged by the Ijtema team, as well as guest artists, and the final winners will be announced upon the launch of the new Ijtema.net site. Click here for more information about the judges and prizes.
Please remember to read the group rules, before submitting your image.
In the mean time, we invite you to browse the submissions, and leave your comments of appreciation and/or constructive criticism for the artists. You can also keep track of newly added photos via the RSS feed.
