About If You Lived Here ... You'd Be Home Now
For a long time, I've been amused and annoyed at seeing the "If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now" signs around the country. They are frequently found in areas easy to see by car, but hard to access via any other means for a decent photo. But let's be honest, there's not a lot of art here -- it's just a marketing meme designed to alert passers-by that they too, can aspire to live "here", which come to think of it, would be pretty handy, considering you are actually "here" when you read the sign, wherever "here" might be, or how inconvenient it would be when you are not "here" ... or there, as it were, when you were somewhere else. Because you couldn't always be there, could you? You'd still have to go elsewhere, and then "here" wouldn't be as convenient anymore, would it? You might as well live in an RV, then you could hang a banner on it and truly always "be home now".
This whole marketing angle is ridiculous, as is this group, but what the heck, full speed ahead. As long as I'm at it, I hope to get signs from all over the world, as I suspect this is an international phenomenon. So, far, I've seen banners from England and Australia, in addition to the USA. Hooray. Maybe it's just something seen in English-speaking countries. Time will tell.
I hope to keep this fairly hands-off, as I just want signs, banners, ads, etc. located in real places where you could be home if you lived there. It seems clear. I will look for images that don't fit the theme occasionally, unless it becomes too time-consuming, in which case I'll wash my hands of the whole thing and go back to my own private, feverish ruminations on the subject.
I have invited a few photos that are slight plays on the theme. We'll see if the owners add them or not. Things along the lines of "If you lived here, you'd be homeless". I like the social commentary aspect of it.
As long as we're here, discussions can be about the price of soup or temperaments of various pets, I don't care, as long as no one blames me for anything.
I've never admin'd a group before, I guess I'll do what I think is right. Thanks for playing along ...
