About Field Guide to Trees of the World

PHOTO OF THE MONTH JULY, 2011
taken by Mono Andes. Please click for his photostream and leave a comment and/or favorite. The photograph was not taken in July, however it's wonderful to see the snow among the giants.

The Coast redwood, California redwood, and/or Giant redwood is an evergreen tree living to 1200–1800 years or more. It is also one of the tallest trees in the world reaching up to 379 feet (115.52 m) in height and up to 26 feet (7.9 m) diameter at breast height. I am still in awe of the first time I saw them in person. If you ever get the opportunity to visit California and these old giant trees you won't be disappointed.

Sequoias

Photographs of trees for useful identification. Leaves, twigs, fruit, and flowers along with single or multiple trees are asked to be used in this field guide. Flickr has a huge database of tree photography.
