About ICSS - Islamic Circles Supplementary Schools

Islamic Circles Supplementary School (ICSS) was set up in February 2003 as a voluntary organisation to support underachieving children in Newham.

ICSS is unique to other supplementary schools as it works with the community to achieve its aims. It consists of mainly Muslim children but is based in a Christian community centre and works closely with the Church.

ICSS registered as a charity on 3rd May 2005 and continues to provide positive role models and support the underachieving children in Newham.

The Islamic Circles Supplementary School (ICSS) is an entirely volunteer run supplementary school that operates in the London Borough of Newham.

Our aim is not to replace but to supplement the work already being done by the local schools by providing additional support in core curriculum subjects.

What sets us apart however, is that we also aim to be an integral part of the local community as well as to provide active role models for those around us.

We not only support education, but also contribute to community cohesion by being involved in local events based on our strong links with the Froud Centre and the Parish of St Michael's.

Our volunteers are as diverse as the community around us- teachers, solicitors, and local businessmen being just some examples of the various backgrounds we hail from.

ICSS is an integral part of the local community, and our events and work are regularly covered by the local press.
