Los heterópteros (Hemiptera: Heteroptera), o chinches, representan el más grande y
diverso grupo de insectos hemimetábolos. De acuerdo con las últimas estimaciones, cerca de 42.000 especies ocurren en todos los continentes, exceptuando Antártica. Para la Península Ibérica el número de especies se estima en 1.800. Los chinches ocupan, principalmente, dos niveles tróficos: herbívoros o depredadores; sin embargo, existen muchas variaciones, incluyendo la zoofitofagia y el parasitismo.
The heteropteran bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) represent the largest and most diverse group of hemimetabolous insects. According to the latest estimates, around 42,000 species occur in all continents, except Antarctica. For the Iberian Peninsula the number of estimated species is around 1,800. Bugs fall primarily into two broad feeding regimes: herbivores and predators, with many variations, including zoophytophagy and parasitism.
