About hybrids in art, folklore, mythology and culture
This group is for pictures of hybrids in art, folklore, mythology and culture: things like mermaids, centaurs and chimeras; Egyptian gods, metamorphoses such as Narcissus; weird and wild objects in surrealist paintings like those of Dali and Magritte; and hybrid images anywhere — from the art of remote tribes to pop-art, grafitti, advertisements, cartoon characters and your own second-life avatars.
To be considered a hybrid, the object in question must be a combination of (at least) two different kinds of objects, such as man and butterfly (in the group's icon).
This group is for artistic representations of imaginary hybrids, not photos of real-life objects that are sometimes called hybrids, such as plant graftings or electric/fuel engines.
As long as they are about hybrids, we are interested in anything from famous art works to cultural artifacts, your kids' random doodlings and maybe even your own artistic endeavors.
And we also welcome any discussion on matters pertaining to hybrids in art, folklore, mythology and culture.
