About Huayna Potosí, Bolivia (6088m)

Huayna Potosí is a mountain in Bolivia, located about 25 km north of La Paz in the Cordillera Real. Its summit rises 6088m (19974ft) above sea level. The first ascent of the mountain took place in 1919 by the Germans Rudolf Dienst and Adolf Schulze.

The mountain is relatively popular among tourists, and is one of the only of its size that can be scaled by unexperienced climbers. However the standard route entails an exposed ridge and sections of moderately steep ice, with a UIAA rating of PD.

The summit is located at 16°15′45″S 68°09′13.5″W.
