About Hampstead Summer Festival - Photo Competition

Head for the Hills of Hampstead!

A photographic competition, organised with assistance from Hampstead Photographic Society, will be just one of the range of events running as part of the Hampstead Summer Festival, 11-17 July 2011.

Under the title "Spirit of Hampstead", this competition will reward creative images illustrating this theme in relation to this fascinatingly diverse area of northwest London. Can you capture this diversity in a single image!?

There is no charge for submissions, but entrants should be prepared to supply a print mounted on card for eventual exhibition during the Festival. Entries can be for sale.

In the first place, submissions should be of digital files, prepared according to the instructions as detailed below.

There will be just two categories: One for photographers under 18 years of age; and an Over-18 section, with a maximum of THREE images per entrant. Initial entries are to be submitted as electronic files, with final presentation in the form of prints which should be mounted on stiff card so as to allow their display during the Festival, perhaps with some protection since they will be displayed in the open air and the organisers cannot guarantee the weather will be good!

The Competition will be judged by three local specialists whose decision will be final! Prizes will also be awarded to the best entries in both categories, and it is planned to arrange for the winning entries to be displayed in and around Hampstead during and after the Festival. Details of the prizes will be available shortly

The winning entries will be announced on the final day of the Festival, in a ceremony beginning late afternoon on Sunday 17 July on the stage which will be erected on Heath Street.
