About Hudson River School of Photography - (Flickrs Best Landscapes)
The Hudson River School of Photography is not a school nor does it have anything to do with the river. This group is inspired by a group of historic artists which came to be known as "The Hudson River School of landscape artist". No, it wasn't a school but rather a style of painting which captured natures light and incredible sights in a romantic way. It consists of a collection of landscape painters in the mid-19th century influenced by a romantic way of painting amazing landscapes of the new world using dramatic lighting.
Some of the famous painters included Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Hill and many more. Hudson River School - Wikipedia While these painters concentrated on the Americas, the group is open to images from around the world so long as they meet the criteria.
My goal in creating this group is to build a gallery of Photographic Landscape Images that are in keeping with the tradition of the Hudson River School techniques focusing on light and dark more than grand images images of landscapes.
Images are selected by the Admins for their quality. You can submit images for review but if your image is not selected that doesn't mean it's not a great picture. Just that it doesn't meet the criteria of the Hudson River School of Artist. If you have any questions jot me a note.
