About Hradec Králové

The first record of Hradec Králové as a town dates back to 1225. Through the centuries, the town has been a dowry gift to Czech queens, an important center of the Hussite movement, a 19th century fortress, and the site of the decisive battle in the Austrian-Prussian War of 1866. Hradec Králové was given the title “Salon of the Republic“ during its economic and architectural development at the beginning of 20th century and is today a mix of styles from these many historic periods.
