About Houses of the HolyAbout the Group "From the houses of the holy,Places of Worship For years, we have taken photographs of (or wasted storage on) buildings where people go to pray, celebrate or make their peace. This group is about places for worship, meditation, contemplation, christenings, weddings, funerals or solace. It isn't just about churches. Photographs of any sanctuary, be it a vast temple or a tiny chapel, a cathedral or a reading room, are welcome. Buildings that used to be churches or temples are great, too. Two Small Restrictions We are not retentive rules freaks, here. Post photographs of any quasi-religious establishment, be it church, storefront or ruin, and we're happy. We just ask you to observe ask two small restrictions: (1) Please either omit or minimize people, animals and vehicles. If they are part of the setting, fine; but the structures or spaces should be the key elements. (2) Unfortunately, we have to institute this restriction: No ADVERTISING! We don't want to see your promotional material in our group pool, please find somewhere else to post your SPAM. Removals We don't do that unless you post totally unrelated photographs or get out of line -- please keep things family-friendly. What's that box at the top about? We discovered this cool little 'recent news' box at the top of the discussion page. We decided to use it for promoting the site a bit, since the About the Group section is a little more tedious to edit. Now, we use it to track (or brag about) new members, the number of photos in the Pool, and our latest ranking with similar Groups. By the way, our apologies if we missed posting your name when you joined; we only have so many characters in the news box, and it only seems to allow about the last three (average length) names. |
