About Homeland Stupidity

Homeland Stupidity welcomes images that illustrate the stupidity of destroying basic freedoms under the guise of preventing terrorism.
i.e. helping the terrorists win.

e.g.
The "defusing" of a Litebrite Cartoon Character in Boston
Brown = Terrorist , photographer manhandled for taking photo of canal
Student borrows communism book and is visited by Homeland Security
To restaurant diner: "We are at war and this is for your safety"
"Homeland Security officer charged in tourist beating"
"Jogger arrested on Cyclepath under susipicion of terrorism"

Homeland Stupidity is often directed at flickr photographers taking photographs of train-stations and public buildings with SLR cameras. While the cops and security guards are throwing their weight around intimidating flickrers, real terrorists could be laughing behind inconspicuous phonecams.
e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McB9tsabPn0
(The flickr group Photography Is Legal contains lots of such incidents)

Images are welcome from any country - the USA and UK don't have a monopoly on Homeland Stupidity ;-)

Quotes:

"It is critical that we understand that this new form of terrorism carries another more subtle, perhaps equally pernicious, risk. Because it might encourage a fear-driven and inappropriate response. By that I mean it can tempt us to abandon our values. " - Sir Ken Macdonald, UK director of public prosecutions

"In a democracy, personal liberties are rarely diminished overnight. Rather, they are lost gradually, by acts of well-meaning people, with good intentions, amid public approval. But the subtle loss of freedom is never recognised until the crisis is over and we look back in horror. And then it is too late." - US Judge Andrew Napolitano, shortly after 9/11
