About Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Hollywood Forever is an old fashioned cemetery containing many imposing tall old headstones and towering monuments, including a few unusual shaped ones such as obelisks and rocket ships.
This cemetery is so picturesque with its lake and tall palm trees, that it has been used as a background location for many Hollywood movies including Hot Shots starring Charlie Sheen and L.A.Story starring Steve Martin.
The two mausoleums, containing many Hollywood film stars, have beautiful interiors full of marble and coloured stain glass windows. As you enter each mausoleum please note the names of the various hallways and corridors are named on the tiled floor.
Established in 1899 and celebrating its 107th year anniversary this year as Los Angeles's oldest memorial park, Hollywood Forever is a unique cemetery, not only because of the famous people interred there, it has many events that not only honor the dead but celebrate them too..

Throughout the summer Saturday nights are movie nights
No reservation necessary. Movies shown vary from The Shining to The Big Sleep to Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure. $10 Tickets available at gate. Bring blankets, drinks and picnic dinner for these special screenings below (and above) the stars.

In July there is a memorial held for Johnny Ramone by his wife and friends open to the public.

On 23rd August every year People gather as they have for the last 80 years to pay their respects to Rudolph Valentino.

In October there is Dia De Los Muertos where people are encouraged to observe the mystical beauty and wonder of this ancient spiritual celebration. Partake of various sacred ceremonial tributes and memorable altar creations on the grounds of the historic Forever cemetery.

Simply put - it's like a oasis in the middle of Hollywood... Day Of The Dead, Rudolph Valentino's and Johnny Ramone's yearly memorial services, Cinespia, tons of cats and a few black swans, turtles and hissy geese are just a few of the many reasons this place is so special.

** If you visit please be respectful of people attending the graves of their loved ones**
