how important is development time?
|
Hey all,
Just got a holgaroid back this week! I'm very excited to have it, so far had pretty good luck just shooting a few test shots around my house. My question is how important is development time? I want to be able to take my camera with me while I'm out & about & shoot some pics. But what the hell am I supposed to do with a sticky photo if I'm out riding my bike or something like that? Is it ok to just let the photo & negative stay together after pulling it & then peel it apart when I get back home or somewhere I can let the print sit & dry? Or will that ruin the photo? Appreciate any help you guys can offer!

You have to develop it for the suggested time. As soon as you leave it longer, the colours shift. I've never left it beyond a few mins personally. I have heard that with the FP100C you can leave it for as long as you want, but haven't used it yet.

Last month I forgot to peel one of mine apart for many hours and it sat in my hot car on top of that. When I peeled it apart it was mostly yellow including the borders. In May I did not peel some apart for about an hour, because I was hiking in some sand dunes. When I peeled them apart they were still good. The only thing was some brownish stuff on the border on the left side.

Fuji emulsions are good at self terminating themselves.
Though under/over development can shift colors and increase/decrease contrast, you wont, say, get an entirely black photo.

Hmmm, ok....that helps a lot. Guess I need to figure out what to do with my sticky prints when I'm out shooting. Thanks, ya'll!!!

I usually walk around and shoot and then take my photos back to my
car to pull them apart. I think of my car now as a Holgaroid photo lab. Waiting ten to fifteen minutes to pull them apart does not seem to make much of a difference.
