About Holocaust Memorial Day London 2010
Central Saint Martins MA Creative Practice for Narrative Environment students were commissioned by Holocaust Memorial Trust, to create an installation for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day Event in London.
The 27th January is the day in 1945 when Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated 65 years ago, a significant anniversary. This year’s theme is The Legacy of Hope and the installation played a central role in the national event at Guildhall.
The installation, in the courtyard of the Guildhall, consisted of 20 wax life size structures containing candles lit by survivors of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides who were accompanied by young people from across the Capital.
Production was managed by Bruno Taylor and Vincenzo Di Maria.
