Landscape and Botanical Photography workshop
by Award Winning Photographer Rachel Warne
Rachel Warne’s knowledge and understanding of shooting flora and gardens spans over 15 years and she has photographed some of the most magnificent and magical gardens the UK has to offer. She has earned an excellent reputation working alongside the gardening world’s top writers and garden designers. Her work has filled the pages of glossy magazines and books. Her impressive magazine titles include Gardens Illustrated, Country Living, House & Gardens and The English Garden. Rachel has not only enjoyed vast editorial coverage, but is also an award winning botanical photographer taking the coveted title of International Garden Photographer of the year only last year. Rachel has recently embarked into television where she was featured on BBC Gardeners World giving garden photography advice.
Rachel uses a Canon 5D Mark 2 SLR.
Rachel has recently photographed Hitchin Lavender for Countryfile magazine and will be returning to offer a bespoke workshop designed to bring out the best in your landscape and botanical photography.
The workshop is designed for beginners to intermediate photographers and will be suitable for all makes and models of SLR, compact system and cameras with the facility to set Aperture Priority. It will be very much a hands on experience with plenty of opportunity to put Rachel's lessons into practice. The key features of your camera will be explained and examples given of how different techniques can improve your photography.
The workshop will follow a talk by Rachel about her photography and the theory behind the practice. The workshop format will allow for plenty of time to address any specific areas brought up but will cover a range of areas including:
• how to create background blur in your close-up photographs using Aperture Priority
• how to control the focal points in landscape shots
• correct use of autofocus, why and when to change ISO
• what you can achieve with your lens or lenses
• how to use Exposure Compensation to darken or lighten your images
• How framing photographs can make the difference between a good shot and an excellent shot
• lens filter advice and any post production question can be asked too.
• A sandwich lunch will be provided with complementary tea and coffee throughout.
• Please bring clothing appropriate for outdoor photography
• Remember your camera and fresh batteries! Bring interchangeable lenses if you have them.
• Fee £65 including VAT
• Date Sunday 10th July, 9.30am for 10am start. Booking essential
