Please show us sites around St. Louis and/or Missouri where history happened--these can be sites that still exist (in whatever form, from a beautiful, active synagogue to a decaying house) or sites that no longer reveal what once occurred (like locations where American Indian mounds once dotted the early skyline); you can post old family photos or artistic, contemporary shots.

About History Happens HERE! St. Louis stories

"All of human history has happened in a specific place on earth. All of our memories, individual and communal, are attached to a particular space on the planet. Imbued with the stories of ourselves and our predecessors, the places we inhabit become an embodiment of our identity and the keeper of our memories.

This place we call St. Louis is the story of many cultures woven into the tapestry of its identity. As we begin to learn the stories of each other, we incorporate them into our own lives, so that none of us is a stranger. History is all around us: in little architectural details on our favorite building or our family home; in the trolley tracks still visible on our busy roads; in the abandoned storefronts that once served a sea of humanity; in the converted lofts where professionals now live and young laboring women once stitched hats and handled textiles.

We invite you to contribute images and memories related to:
General explorations of history (personal or public stories/events) tied to specific places in St. Louis city or the surrounding metro area.

Tagging/ Location Info:Please tag all of your images "history happens here" and add location information either by adding images to the map or adding area details in the title or description.
