31 Aug 09 - Check out the latest postings from TMSurrattPhotography! I think you'll like the moody tones and great angles he captures as he rambles around North Carolina in search of our fading agrarian past. Many more can be found in his photostream, which is certainly worth a visit!

About Historic Barns of the South

As old tobacco barns, hay barns, packhouses, and the like, disappear at an alarming rate, the only link to many of them will be through photographs. I truly believe these structures are one of the last tangible links to our agrarian past as Southerners, and that their preservation is crucial to a future understanding of a lifestyle that persisted for the better part of two centuries. I implore you too look for old barns in your region, and take as many good pictures of them as you can. Always use caution when around these structures, and beware of trespassing. (This group will also include various agricultural structures, such as gins, mills, warehouses, and even the odd sign or two)
