Henk van der Eijk (a group admin) says:
15 Apr 12 - The armchair garden tour: both beautiful and descriptive photos of historical gardens all over the world.
And ultimately: an overview of changes made in the gardens over the years.

The photos are collected in slideshows based on location tags. You'll find these in the regional discussion topics.
For the garden slideshows to work, we need one uniform tag per garden. The group admin will add that tag if necessary.

[Currently updating lists with your updates from last summer]

Enjoy!

About Historical Gardens

This group is meant to bring together and collect per location (garden, park) both beautiful and descriptive photos of historical gardens around the world. These photos are collected in slideshows based on location tags.
Historical Gardens images are also accessible through the Hgimages pages on Historical Gardens blog. You are invited to share your pictures, discussions and views in this group and together turn it into a highly interested but relaxed community of garden enthusiasts.

We are interested in all kinds of pictures: of garden features or people perfoming activities in the garden (concerts, sports); of sculptures, the main house or garden buildings -as long as the landscape or site is somehow identifiable by clear characteristics and tags.
Photos of garden plans and older photographs or postcards (scanned or otherwise) are especially welcome.

When you add pictures to the pool, please also notify us in the appropiate discussion thread. Threads are grouped at the level of provinces (Länder, shires, counties, regions, states, etc). You are invited to create a new thread if you are not able to find it in the list further down the page.
The boring but necessary RULES are mentioned in a special thread.

But most importantly: have fun!

Featured gardens can be found using the 'Search discussions' field above.
You can also use the 'country' links below. This will open a new window with the full list of gardens which originally was on this page until we reached its limits. You'll now be redirected to a page on Historical Gardens blog. Clicking a link there brings you right back to the pool with a slideshow of pictures of the garden of your choice.

Clicking one of the maps below brings you to pages where maps are listed per continent (roughly). There you can specify your search area to maps that are accompanied by a list of gardens represented on that map. This also contains a link back to the pool.
Clicking the green icons on the map(s) will show you the name of the garden and further links. You can, ofcourse, switch between different views.
