Remains of a temple to an unknown deity on the Island of Thassos just off the northern coast of Greece. Thassos is famous for its white marble still highly prized today.

Never been to Greece and a long time ago in Rome, so... there goes one Roman from Sicily :) Not a winner, but definitely a different one from other pics (and a great place to visit, too!). It's Villa Cassale in Piazza Armerina.

Hi! This is my first post (thanks for the invitation!).
1. This pic shows just how immense the Acropolis is:

2. And how big the Colosseum is:

I suppose I like size comparisons. Hehehe.

I'm posting my third pic separately, because I'm not sure if it'll offend anybody.
3. A statue from the ruins of Delos, Greece, marking the entrance to the 'girlie bars' of their time ;)

Please feel free to delete if this isn't allowed for some reason. Thanks!

The remains of a temple to a Greek God, Apollo, below the Capitol in Rome. This area provided the main markets and docks for the city and originally, the temple may have served visitors from Greece. However, Apollo was soon to become a major Roman god.

It was from here that the Roman patrician general Sulla called a meeting of the Senate while his troops masacred 6000 Italian prisoners on the Field of Mars (now the Via del Corso and surrounding area) and installed himself as the first miliary ruler of Rome. His actions and that of other warlords such as Marius and Pompey, paved the way for the era of the Caesars and Empire.

Once again it's time to choose a winner.
But first of all I would like to thank all the participants and the fantastic contributions.
The reason for choosing the photo as winner is because of the awesome architecture and also the high quality of the photo itself. And the winner is ... Panteon by Juan_de.
Congratulations!
Juan, it is now your turn to start Contest 20.
