It works well -- doing high-res shots is actually practical!

So far I have only gotten a frozen shutter, but then the image appears in the photo album.
A few problems:
-It crashes (as mentioned above) after a single shot.
-You can not take full advantage of the camera. (I.e., "hi-res" is the same as the 3GS.)
-The flash is always on. This is the physical flash on the iPhone 4, not the simulated one in app.

A workaround: Go to the Camera app and turn OFF the flash. And then Hipstamatic works fine on the iPhone 4. Just remember to leave the Camera app flash off.

One thing I stumpled upon on the iPhone 3G but with the new iOS 4 is, that both black and white films have a really crazy blue tone.

Just tried it out with iOS4 and iPhone 4. Not even a blue hue, but patches of blue. Looks terrible. At least yours looks awesome

The BW film on hipstamatic never was truly black and white; I always noticed colors peaking in. My guess is that it was calibrated to the previous camera and not to the new camera with a completely different color profile.
I did some tests with the camera using a UV light on flowers. UV tends to go through the filters on the lens and over run the CCD or, in this case CMOS, sensor in the camera will try to post some of my test pics later today or tomorrow.

I think our greatest hope is that the developers have the new iPhone in their "lab", clearly know this is an issue, and are actively trying to release an iOS 4 and iPhone 4 version as we type. Oh, and we should set up an Apple Aproval Shrine to place fresh fruit, insense, coins and any human sacrifices we can to help insure they don't hit any road blocks in trying to get the new rev through Apple's approval process.

I've just started using it. I only get the frozen shutter when the flash kicks in. One thing, though, I can't seem to "join" the hipstamatic upload thingy to post to contests and FB from my phone. Any ideas?
I absolutely LOVE this app.

I have just added an image to the group that was taken with an iPhone 4 and Hipstamatic.
A texture was also added.
I have turned the Camera app flash off as scoodog / digging iPhoneography suggested.

I did a ton of research, testing and "debugging". Writing a blog post about it. I'll URL you guys when I'm done so you can understand what's going on here (at least as much as I do).
Figure best to share all the time I spent researching someone else's app. Heh

Ok, I spent a lot of time doing some research and a lot of time writing out what I discovered. Check it out:

I spoke a little too soon... all the photos I had taken were in color and bright sunlight. D'oh. : /
Good QA work there, kraquehaus!

Good news, the Hipstamatic 160 is coming very soon and will address the problems folks are observing. 160 is being reviewed by Apple at this time and should be available very soon. More information on the Hipstamatic 160 here -- hipstamaticapp.com/support.html#version_history_160

I'm loving the increased resolution of the iPhone 4 combined with Hipstamatic! Unlike others, I have no problems (knock on wood) to report while using this ap in the new OS4...

The hardware flash on iPhone 4 now works properly with Hipstamatic (and is synced to when you turn the Hipstamatic flash on)
That's a little concerning. I'll use "flash" all the time for the color effects, but I can't think of any of those times where I'd have wanted the phone's physical flash to go off.

I agree, someToast. My fingers are crossed that Hipsta 160 will not tie the Hipsta flash and the iPhone flash together, as suggested by the release notes...

All my pictures on my page are taken with the iPhone 4 and Hipstamatic. I still have the problem with it crashing occasionally but it seems to happen mostly when I'm on low battery. Head over to my have to check out the hi-res iphone4 shots.
