About White horses, Giants and other Hill Figures in the UK
A group dedicated to images of Hill figures in the UK and their surroundings - these include white horses and giants carved into the hillside along with more modern crests and symbols which have been placed using the same methods as in pre-history.
Often the context is just as important, and as beautiful, as the hill figures themselves... the area around the White Horse at Uffington is both breathtaking and historic with an iron age fort, ancient path (the Ridgeway) and burial site (Wayland's Smithy) all nearby.
A list of the main hill figures is given below - this is by no means complete and updates/corrections are welcome, together with pictures of the locations. Same goes for lost figures which are a subject of some debate.
If you submit a picture, do try to geotag it so that people know where the site is located.
