NEW YORK (Billboard) - The soundtrack to Disney's "High School Musical 2" led the U.S. pop charts for a fourth week Wednesday, becoming the first album to achieve this feat since 50 Cent's "The Massacre" in March 2005.

The disc sold 165,000 copies in the week ended September 9. according to Nielsen SoundScan, enjoying a wide margin over Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie's "The Dutchess," which jumped three places to a new high of No. 2 with 49,000 copies in its 51st week.

Teen actress Miley Cyrus' former chart-topper, the Disney double-disc set "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus," rose one to No. 3 with 47,000. After bowing last week at No. 2, Christian group Casting Crowns' "The Altar and the Door" fell to No. 4 with 41,000.

Michigan rock band Chiodos' "Bone Palace Ballet" was the only debut within the top 40 on the chart, entering at No. 5 with 39,000. Its third effort easily trumped the No. 164 bow and peak of 2006's "All's Well That Ends Well" with 6,000.

The "Hairspray" soundtrack held at No. 6 with 39,000, and the "Now 25" hits compilation was also unchanged, at No. 7, with 38,000.

Canadian rock band Nickelback's "All the Right Reasons" jumped two places with 36,000, English singer Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" rebounded four to No. 9 with 29,000, while rock band Linkin Park's former chart-topper "Minutes to Midnight" rose one to No. 10 with 28,000.

The summer brings excitement to the East High Wildcats as they go over their plans for their break from school. Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) stresses over getting a job with the price of college looming on his mind, as well as trying to make sure he and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) are able to stay together all summer. Sharpay and Ryan Evans (Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel) plan on spending the summer at their family's country club, Lava Springs. All the kids celebrate their joy by singing "What Time Is It". Sharpay's summer plan also includes separating Troy and Gabriella by getting Troy hired at Lava Springs. What Sharpay does not plan on is Troy talking the club's manager, Mr. Fulton, into hiring the rest of the Wildcats, including Gabrellia and her best friend Taylor (Monique Coleman), and Troy's best friend Chad (Corbin Bleu). Fulton is unable to fire the Wildcats at Sharpay's command, since her mother approved their hiring, so she orders him to make them want to quit. Troy offers to help his friends working in the kitchen including: Chad, Jason, Zeke, and Martha and tells them that they can "Work This Out".

The summer unfolds as Sharpay schemes harder than ever to make the Wildcats miserable, and win Troy, who has to choose between two worlds: his own with the Wildcats and Gabriella, or another where Sharpay's family can offer him a way to college and other luxuries he has only dreamed about. Troy tries to relax with Gabrellia while singing with her a song Kelsi wrote from for them called "You Are The Music In Me". While Troy is overwhelmed, Sharpay is enjoying the beginning of her summer as everything has to be "Fabulous". As Troy grows further away from Gabriella, Ryan is pushed further away from Sharpay. From this separation, a friendship is formed between Gabriella and Ryan - one that Troy is very uneasy with. Taylor and Gabriella even invite Ryan to the baseball game, and Chad offers him Troy's place in the game, as Chad tells Ryan "I Don't Dance". Troy and Gabriella's relationship is strained to the breaking point, as well as Troy's friendship with Chad, his best friend since pre-school.

Sharpay finally crosses the line by banning the Wildcats from performing in Lava Springs' annual Star Dazzle Talent Show, even though Ryan has been working with the group to put together a performance. She wants Troy to perform with her and she intimidates Kelsi into giving "You Are the Music In Me", and makes it more faster-paced. Gabriella confronts Sharpay, makes it clear she refuses to play Sharpay's game, and quits her job at Lava Springs. Troy overhears the exchange and tries to convince Gabriella to change her mind - however, all she can think of is how much Troy has changed over the summer. Gabrellia then decides "I Gotta Go My Own Way".

Gabriella's quitting causes Troy to see the person he has become and realize everything he has sacrificed, and he sings "Bet On It". As he sets out to make everything right again, Ryan gets help from the Wildcats to conspire to get Troy and Gabriella back together. They convince Troy to sing with Sharpay in the talent show - even though he'd quit citing her ban on junior staffers' participation in the show - which he does only under the condition that the Wildcats are allowed to perform as well. Sharpay relents, and the Wildcats put their plan into motion, finally getting Troy and Gabriella back together singing "Everyday". After the talent show, Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Zeke, Jason, Kelsi, Chad, Taylor, Martha, and Ryan all head out onto the golf course with Chinese laterns. While everyone else goes down the hill, Troy and Gabriella finally share their first kiss. Fireworks explode in the sky and you can hear "You Are the Music in Me" in the background. The summer ends with a pool party and the Wildcats' celebration of a great summer together. The film ends with the main cast singing "All For One".
