About Esculturas Religiosas en las Filipinas

Our SANTO OF THE WEEK

May 27 - La Virgen Gloriosa of John Felix Santos of Pasig City

Welcome to Esculturas Religiosas en las Filipinas!

A nuestros amigos en otros países, muchas gracias por vuestro interés pero sólo admitimos fotos de imágenes esculpidas en Filipinas en nuestro grupo. Gracias por su comprensión.

New main banner

Indeed, "santo groups" proliferate in Flickr, and along this inevitable response to this eternal passion, Esculturas Religiosas en las Filipinas stands still as an online community of faith, brotherhood, support and positive communication. A role model group for the past four years and remains to be a safe abode for old and new santo enthusiasts.

Our Group

A home to the beautiful Philippine-made santos and stories, that's how our group is commonly described. We maintain a strict and standard pooling policy that is not present in other similar groups.

Esculturas Religiosas en las Filipinas is a lifestyle group for owners, caretakers and enthusiasts of religious sculptures or "santos" that are made in the Philippines.

This flickr group is controlled by new generation santo owners whom are referred to here as the administrators and moderators - they have the full group regulation authority in which deletion of photos, threads and messages and removal of one’s membership are included.

The group aims to promote religious artistry focused on locally produced wood and ivory sculptures. Such promotion is made feasible through photo pooling and discussions open to all members of the group. Since Flickr is a photo sharing website, we commit to endorse and utilize the full purpose of our members’ photos in our discussions, provided the photos belong to the group’s photo pool.

Below are some of the best photos of Dolorosas, Cristos and Coronadas we have in our pool. Thanks to our friends and supporters for sharing with us these lovely images.

Group Rules

Member Acceptance

We only accept flickr members who have true identity and authentic photos.

We shall also be checking if a member has at least one existing account in other network utilities such as but not limited to Friendster, Facebook, MySpace and Multiply.

Members whom we already know will not be subjected to this process.

We will be removing members who fall short of these very basic requirements.

Beginning December 24, 2010, this group will only accept as its members those who have been invited by the administrators themselves and those who have clicked the "join this group" button which instantly delivers notification to the TEAM ESCULTURAS Flickr Account. If an individual became a member for reasons apart from what was mentioned, we will instantly remove them from this group.

Photo Pooling

The administrators and the moderator of the group either invite or accept photos to be included in our growing pool. Once the members’ photos are included in the group’s photo pool, the administrators are automatically given the rights to endorse these photos within any discussions in the group.

1. We only accept photos of Religious sculptures made in the Philippines.
2. We only accept authentic photographs.
3. We only accept color, black and white and sepia images.
4. We prioritize close up to mid shot ranges.
5. We do not accept photos that show a person or people in it.
6. We discourage members from submitting photos of the same religious image shot in various distances. We can only select up to three photos for one religious image.
7. The administrators and the moderator of the group have no obligation to explain in instances that photos are not approved or deleted.

(Revisions set effective on September 15, 2010)
8. We will not accept posters/cartels or any photos with text information in our group pool.
9.We will not accept diagonally-angled shots.
10.We will only accept close up, mid-shot and "on top of the carozza" photos of finished images. Vestment details, accessories and photos of unfinished heads and hands will be removed from the pool, however, they can still be posted in any related discussion threads within the group.

Discussions

1. We encourage and fully accept discussion threads whose objective is to educate the members. Debates will be inevitable but If any hostility among members arises, the discussion thread will simply be closed by an administrator or moderator.

2. New discussion topics, if not related to Religious Sculptures will be closed and deleted by an administrator or moderator. A dedicated discussion thread was made available for matters that are not linked to Religious Sculptures. Please look for the discussion thread, “A Look outside the Santo World”.

3. Inappropriate discussion topics will simply be closed by the administrators or moderators. Inappropriate discussion topics are categorized as follows.

A. Hostile

- Direct, malicious, baseless assault to a person whether a member of this group or not.

B. Personal

- Solicitation of opinion for his/her santo
- Solicitation of materials, assistance of any form for privately owned santos.
- Message for a particular member - this should be done through PM.

C. Plagiarized

- Discussion topics originally created by another person, whether member of this group or not, will be evaluated as plagiarized material and will therefore be closed by the administrators and members unless with the consent of the author included in the introduction of the discussion topic.

4. Photo included in a comment within the thread, once deleted, will prompt the administrators and moderators to delete the entire comment given by the member.

Conduct

Everyone, from the administrators to the members, is expected to have a cautious approach in posting reactions and opinions within the discussion threads.

A member's display of hostility will result in removal from this group.
