Using arduino, this guy made it so his Sony camera could use Canon EOS lenses. This could be applied to other equipment too, I'm sure. Like using a Nikon automatic on a Canon EOS mount... Just get the arduino to interpret, and shoot away.

For that matter, he could give it other tasks like working with macro or controlling the camera. Fun stuff, arduino.
