About Hardtops

This group is dedicated to the hardtop body style. All kinds of hardtops are welcome, be they two door, four door, or station wagon. This group isn't limited to American cars either, so feel free to add anything from the 1949 Buick Roadmaster Riviera to the 2011 Mercedes Benz CL-class.

Here are some general guidelines:

- This is a group for real hardtops. Generally speaking this means cars built after the mid 1940s. Coach built cars from before the introduction of mass produced hardtops as well as body styles like the "fully collapsible roof" which serve the same purpose but are not structurally similar to standard hardtops are not allowed.

- "Pillared hardtops" and two door "hardtops" which still have B pillars are not allowed, since these cars are hardtops in name only.

- This is a group for fixed hardtops. Removable hardtops made for convertibles and retractable hardtop cars are not true hardtops.

- All cars should be as close to stock as possible. Mild customs that still look like normal cars (for example, a Chrysler 300C that has been converted to a hardtop coupe), and any hardtop concept cars are still allowed.

In general a hardtop can be seen as any car which does not have a B pillar between the windows, and which has front and rear windows that meet and form a weather tight seal when the windows are rolled up.
