About Happy Snaps!
Hello people! Welcome to Happy Snaps!
I believe photography should be a joy and full of fun! In this age of technological advancement, 98% of people own a camera in some form or another, be it an ultracompact, a compact, an advanced compact, a prosumer, a dSLR, an old film compact, SLR, TLR, toy cameras, phone cameras... it's impossible to list everything here!
I started this group in an effort to get people to use their cameras more, by means of regular "assignments" and/or "projects" that can/will be shared amongst group members. It's kinda like the Strobist group, if you know it... just... not so public, and only open to people I know. Haha! And oh yeah, we won't be doing solely off-camera lighting.
You know how things are: you get into the craze of photography when you see 9 out of 10 people walking around town with a dSLR slung on their shoulder or around their necks, and during the next IT Fair, you take the plunge and get yourself a digital camera too. You play around with it for a couple'a weeks (or if you're really fascinated, months), then you start getting back into your busy schedule of studying for tests & exams, or working and doing OT, or just tending to your family, and you start to not use your camera for fun.
You start to only use it for snapshots. You see someone else with a better camera and you assume he/she will be the "main photographer" of the outing, and you leave yours snug in your handbag/backpack/pocket/at home. You tell yourself "I'm just taking photos for fun, not for money", and you don't believe you can get better photos with your gear. Soon, your camera begins to stay home, your batteries leak, your papers on your desk start flapping in the wind, and the next best thing to buying a paperweight is to use your camera as one.
Well, join me and I'll (try to) start dishing out so-called assignments/projects so that we can all share here! Don't be worried or afraid of the words "assignments/projects". None of them will be compulsory, but if you keep it up and follow through with all of them, I'm sure you'll see that even you can start to take fantastic photos!
Of course, you'd have to be a Flickr member to join in, but hey, it's free!
I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay here!
Happy snapping! =)
