About Hair Fair 2008 - Locks of Love Real Hair Donations
During the week of the Hair Fair, those with hair long enough(10 inches or more) are challenged to donate their RL hair to Lock of Love. Take a picture of the ponytail/braid that you are sending off to Locks of Love, post it on your flickr, and share it with the group. Your picture can include yourself proudly displaying your locks or, for the shy, you can take a picture of the hair only.
We also invite any non-Second Life members that have donated their hair to show it off leading us by example.
According to the Locks of Love website, the following rules need to be followed to donate your hair.

Acceptable Hair Donations:
1. Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.(Not bleached)
2. Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.
3. Hair that has been bleached (usually this refers to highlighted hair) is not usable. If unsure, ask your stylist. They are not able to accept bleached hair due to a chemical reaction that occurs during the manufacturing process.
4. Hair that is swept off of the floor is not usable because it is not bundled in a ponytail or braid.
5. Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. If shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off.
6. They cannot accept dreadlocks. Their manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. They also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.
7. Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches.
8. Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails.
9. Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.
10. 10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
Please Note:
1. Shorter hair will be separated from the ponytails and sold to offset the manufacturing costs.
2. Although the shorter hair cannot be used in the hairpieces, it still greatly helps to reduce costs.
3. Gray hair will be accepted and sold to offset the manufacturing costs.
4. Colored hair is not usable if it is colored over bleached hair.
