About Gulf of Mexico Wildlife - Before the Oil Spill

This group is about the wildlife threatened by the Deepwater Horizon Incident in the Gulf of Mexico. Please post your photos and videos of animals, plants, and other organisms that are likely to be impacted as well as the landscapes that will be changed forever.

The designated spill area for sea turtles and marine mammals is from the Texas/Louisiana border to Apalachicola, Florida (NOAA Situation Update 12 June 10). However, the spill is likely to affect wildlife all over the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

For updates about the current extent of visible oil see Remnants of GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL QuickLook), updated daily.

Make sure to tag your images and videos with location information. Geotagging is highlgy desired. See instructions here.

This group celebrates the beauty of the region BEFORE the oil spill reached a particular habitat, so please don't post images of the damage here. The following groups are documenting what happened after the oil hit:

National Wildlife Federation BP Oil Spill Coverage Group
