About Gulf St. Vincent Challenge

Welcome to the Coastal Ambassadors Gulf St. Vincent Photo Challenge - featuring the best images of the stunning gulf that borders Adelaide, South Australia.

We're looking for the 12 best coastal images of this unique and diverse region of SA.

(See this discussion for what we mean by the Gulf St. Vincent for the purposes of the challenge.)

The competition is supported by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board.

Any flickr user may submit their best 6 photographs of the Gulf, its beautiful seascapes, wildlife or coastal impacts. Only coastal and seascape photographs - including, of course, any underwater photography - from the St. Vincent's Gulf region of South Australia will be accepted.

The Challenge runs from Tuesday 8 June (World Oceans Day) to Thursday 8 July 2010.

A selection of the best 100 images will be 'promoted' - by invitation only - to the Gulf St. Vincent Gallery Pool. The challenge winners will be selected from this pool by AMLR NRMB and WDCS staff, and photographer Bill Doyle, who has extensively documented the coast on behalf of the Board.

Finalists images will be shown at events in a variety of locations along the coast during July and August 2010

The 12 finest photographs will be selected for the Coastal Ambassadors 2011 Calendar.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
 

All flickr users are welcome to submit a maximum of 6 images to the challenge pool between June 8th and July 8th 2010. You must be the copyright owner of any image in order to post it to the pool.

All photos must bear a clear relationship to the subject of the photo challenge - the Gulf St. Vincent and it's coastline. Relevant wildlife and plant photographs and underwater photographs are most welcome!

Extraneous or inappropriate material will be deleted from the pool by the administrators without discussion (If you are new to flickr rest assured that any image will only be removed from the pool, NOT your photostream).

By submitting images to this pool you are authorising the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) and Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resource Management Board (AMLR NRMB) to use any image for any publishing purpose if they are chosen. You will receive credit as the photographer.

The focus in the challenge is on the landscape, seascapes, underwater and other natural features of the coast. If individuals are identifiable in any image then you will be required to provide a release form for any such person should the image be chosen for publication. If you do not believe you can obtain such permission please DO NOT submit the photograph.

All photos must have the location at which they were taken clearly identified, via both captions and tags. In the absence of such information your photo may be deleted from the pool. Please ensure that the administrators of this pool are are able to place tags on your photos.

A selection of the best 100 images will be 'promoted' - by invitation only - to the Gulf St. Vincent Gallery Pool. The 12 challenge finalists will be selected from this pool, and will be notified via flickrmail by Friday July 16th.

NOTE: Finalists will be chosen at the judges discretion. No correspondence will be entered into.
