About Guess Where In The World
And we're back for a brand new series...guess where in the world!
If you're new to this game then i'd better let you all know what the deal is. There's a number of groups on Flickr where people post pictures of their towns, states or even countries...leaving other Flickonians to guess at what the photo is of. This gem of a group takes that one step further and makes the whole world our playground.
Post your heart out....
Simple really...join up, pop your photo into the stream and let others guess where they think you took it.
A sneaky clue for all you posters is to not add a description saying where you took it - that makes it a little bit harder! If you really wanna do that..then try www.rot13.com - you're choice if you want to tell readers that you're writing in code...i prefer to let them think i'm not quite with it!
Guessing is the name of the game...
This is the fun part...anyone can guess - just peruse the photos at your leisure and have a stab at where you think they were taken. You don't have to be a member...you just require some specialised technology in the form of a pair of eyes to see what's actually in said photo!
Please try and say why you think it is what
The boring bit for all you participants - Guidelines (not rules!)...
1. Tags
Please try and tag your photos with "GWW" so that they can be found easily.
When your photo is unguessed, please try and tag it with "unguessed".
Now...the clever bit...try and change that tag to "guessed" when something happens...oh yeah...you guessed it (you're good at guessing)...when it's guessed correctly! (can you guess how many times the word guess was used in that sentence!)? Winner gets the sensational board game - Guess Who
When your photo is guessed, feel free to add a geotag so that everyone can see exactly where it was taken.
2. Recognisable
Try and post something that someone will recognise. An old 'Coke' can on your pavement isn't going to give too much away! However, having said that...there are multiple layers to this game.
Country - please acknowledge when someone gets the right country.
Town - please let them know they're close.
Exact location - wowzers...they just hit the nail on the head!

4. No cheating
Try not to research any pictures - this group is not called 'See Who Can Google Every Picture So That They Can Work Out Where It Was Taken In The World', it's about guessing. If you know the answer because it's round the corner from your house...be a good sport and allow someone else a shot at getting it.
Also, try and write a quick note to say how you know what it is if you're right - bet there's some interesting stories!
5. Afterwards
Post your photo into the discussion thread when it's been guessed if you want to.
