About Guess Where Southampton?
THE GAME:
Post a photo of a Southampton, Hampshire, UK, location and the other members will try to guess where it is. The idea is to provide entertainment to yourself and others, but to lose gracefully in the end, like a crossword setter.
See the current UNGUESSED images, and the past GUESSED images.
RULES / ETIQUETTE
** NEW RULE ** Photos MUST be tagged with unguessed and once guessed MUST be tagged guessed and unguessed removed.
• Please respond to people's guesses whether they are right or not.
• Please offer clues after a few wrong guesses. These may be geographical, cryptic, or photographic (in the form of wider crops, adjacent buildings, etc) or any other form of clue.
• Please after a week of no sucessfull guesses give some form of clue. This can be a wider shot, or a textual clue, but don't just leave a shot on here forever unguessed. At the time you do this, please remove the picture and readd it so as to raise it up the order. Unguessed shots will be removed if the poster fails to give clues in a timely fashion.
* No use of Google or other search engines to search for text seen on the image. By all means use the aerial photography available on such sites to look around. Or if you think the photo is of something feel free to use search engines to find corroborating evidence, but don't just google a phone number of business name seen in the photo.
* Please geotag your photos once guessed.
WHAT NOT TO POST
• Photos with no guessable content. There should be enough detail to pinpoint the photo to a unique location.
• Photos with location data in the tags, titles, captions or sets, or visible in street signs or on buildings in the photo itself.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
• If you guess a photo, please post one of your own for others to guess.
Most of all, have fun, and try to play the game with due consideration for other group members.
