About Guess Where Alameda

This will probably be the smallest Guess Where group ever, but it seems like an imperative that it exists. Alameda has such a small town community feel to it, and the residents take pride in their familiarity with their favorite haunts. This group exists to emphasize those great qualities and for the locals and frequent visitors to have a bit of fun.

The Rules

1. The photo must be in the city of Alameda and can include Bay Farm Island.

2. It must be possible to identify where you took the photo by looking at it. It doesn't have to be easy, just possible. If a shot is particularly hard, Sleuths can request up to three clues (total), but at least one guess must be made first.

3. If you have several photos of a single location, don't add them all to the pool. Add your favorite and reference the others in the caption or comments, if you want people to see them.

4. Make sure that you don't give the photo's location away in your tags, title, caption or groupings. Don't place your photo on a map before it's been guessed!

5. Straight-up photos of the tubes, Washington Park, Crab Cove, Park Street, etc. are not good for this group because everyone knows where those places are. Try to make your photos a challenge to guess . A picture of the Tilly's sign, for instance, would be way too obvious.

6. Try to be specific in both your photos, and your guesses. That is, "Corner of Webster and Central," or "Croll's" is far better than "On the west end."
