About Group Announcements
The place to announce new public and family friendly groups
POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS
Two reasons to join this group
1. If you like using Flickr groups to share your photographs and for discussion then this will keep you up-to-date with the new groups.
2. If you are someone who will want to announce, promote or re-announce a public group e.g. an admin for a group.
As with all groups you join, this group will be listed on your Groups List page. When a new topic or thread is added to this group it will automatically jump to the top of your Groups you belong to list. You'll then know there's something new to see - either a new topic or a continuing thread.
As a member of the group there is no commitment to submitting photographs or getting involved in discussion...just read the topics and join the groups.
The group will only work if the membership is high. People will be discouraged from using the group for announcements if the membership is low so PLEASE JOIN. Let's see if this can work. If nothing else, this will act as a survey on how many people on Flickr are interested in keeping up-to-date with new groups.
DESCRIPTION
This group has been set up to provide an additional way to announce new public groups, re-announce older public groups and keep informed about new public groups. It is intended to complement the New group announcements thread in FlickrCentral and the group users group called Group Therapy.
GUIDELINES
To announce a group:
Post a new topic with the group name as the subject.
Use the Your Post: area for the website address (very important if you want people to visit), description/guidelines/rules and anything else you want to say about the group. A few images might help too. Example here. One announcement per group.
If required and only after a minimum of a month's time the thread can be "bumped" to the top of the topic list to re-promote the group. "Bumping" should be kept to a minimum. There is no need to duplicate posts to re-promote a group. Thread bumping: the act of posting in a thread, with the sole goal of getting it back to the top of the thread list.
Duplicate posts will be deleted.
Threads bumped within a month will be deleted.
This policy will be enforced to ensure everyone has a fair chance of promoting their group.
To complement this group there's a group for Set Announcements.
If one of your announcements has disappeared you may find the explanation in the group description above. If you don't understand why your announcement has been removed please contact one of the admins by Flickr e-mail.
