Why is green beautiful?
|
I think of "tierra," the Spanish word for land. How beautiful "la tierra!"
I think of everything green -- all sorts of trees, plants and gifts from Mother Nature.
And, I think of money, money, money (of course).
You?

It's verdant. Green is alive, a green plant has found water - the life giving force. This is reassuring.
Conversely when I think of 'land' (tierra/terra/terre) I think of browns.

You are right. Green is so rich. It represents life in so many ways.
I think green trees, pastures, leafy plants and foliage. Wonderful gifts of la tierra.
But you have a point to think land and browns. For some reason, I think green though.
I guess I think green for tierra because I think of Puerto Rico. It is an island rich in greens.

I'm an English teacher and one of my fourth-grade students made this comment in Spanish to me yesterday: "Missy, I don't know why but when I close my eyes, I see Puerto Rico and think of the color green."
We were talking about the class theme "My Country."
I, of course, thought about my photo friends in the green group. Keep up the wonderful green-themed shots.

Green is beautiful because it is the only color in my opinion that can take all of the feeling from any other color and incorporate it into itself. There is no other color that can have the choice of being warm or cool, soothing or chaoatic. It is in short a kaleidescopically beautiful color.

It's late winter here in the UK and already some weeds and grasses are springing forth. We also had some great strong winter sunlight today - went out this afternoon and took some shots with lovely long shadows. The light at this time of day really brought out the green in the grasses growing between the paving, and added great contrast to the peeling paint I found.

The color of spring, hope, the return of the sun, growth, waking up. Green has always been my favorite color. Emerald green, mint green, lime green, soft winter wheat green, chartreuse (well, maybe NOT chartreuse!).

Green is soothing, calming, relaxing and delicious...like frosty cold lime sherbet to the tongue! The pale green walls in a room has a cool radiance to soothe, calm and relax...But, not all "green is beautiful"...for instance, green with envy, not mature, unripe, sickly or green-eyed...then there is...
green-algae, green-back, green bean, green-belt, green card, green corn, green-horn, green-house, green manure, green mold, green onion, green power, green-room, green-stone, green soap, green tea...these are just a few of what green is... =^.^=
