Copenhagen is known as one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world. Cycling, eating organic and reducing CO2 are just a few of the Copenhageners' high priorities. In late 2009 the Danish capital hosted the United Nations Climate Summit, and according to the city's environment strategy, "Environment Metropolis - our vision 2015", Copenhagen aims to show global leadership in the environmental field.
When it comes to organic food Copenhagen breaks a world record. 51 percent of food consumption in the city's public institution is organic. For private households the percentage is 23. By 2015, 90 percent of food consumption in the city's public institutions should be organic.
