Group DescriptionThis is a group for images of everything in and around Grappenhall near the edge of Warrington, Cheshire, England, Great Britain, UK..
The civil parish of Grappenhall was formed in largely its present state in 1936, when the then Thelwall civil parish was joined in its entirety to the ancient civil parish of Grappenhall. Images from around south Warrington and where Grappenhall spills into Thelwall, Latchford, Appleton, Stockton Heath etc are all welcome.
Feel free to join if you live or work in Grappenhall and have some images you would like to share.
Grappenhall and surroundings includes some of the following:
The picturesque old cobbled village
St Wilfids church
Traditional pubs, Rams Head, Parr Arms, Springbrrok etc
GYCA Bellhouse club and community centre (home to Warrington District Camera Club WDCC and many other groups)
Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals
Grappenhall Cricket Club
Grappenhall Sports Football Club (FC)
Grappenhall Lawn Tennis Club
Grappenhall Village Sports Club

A regular beer festival is held in the village and Grappenhall has an annual walking day too.
Also back a decade or so ago, Grappenhall was the site of the Cheshire steam fair, canal festival and truck events. If you have old images from these times, please dig them out and add them to the group.
Where the trans-pennine trail goes through Grappenhall, the old Warrington to Altrincham railway used to carry steam trains. If you have any old shots from this era, they would be most interesting.
All your images about, in and around old and modern Grappenhall are welcome.
