it could be that they've included the paper work for the regular SLR (GP2). In the photos I've seen on the SLR-Zoom, it doesn't have an adaptor plate.

My GP SLR-Zoom (GP3) came with a threaded 3/8" cap over the regular 1/4" camera screw thread. There was a slit on top of the 3/8" piece to use a screwdriver to remove it, leaving you with the standard camera mount underneath. It wasn't a plate, but I am sure if you can find the right adapter (1/4" to 3/8") you should be all set.

Yeah mine just has the regular 1/4" screw without the threaded converter cap thingy, though it says on the packaging it comes with the adaptor (and the packaging has gp3 on the bottom and definitely says SLR Zoom) but perhaps it was removed or was missing.

I would contact customer service, I found them to be more than helpful and they resolved my issue very quickly.

Hi there,
I work for Joby. I apologize that your SLR-Zoom is missing the adapter. Can you please email our customer service folks (info "at" joby.com) and request an adapter? We will send one free of charge.
Thanks!
Mel

I -almost- threw the little adapter away too as I thought it was part of the packaging :)
When my camera didn't fit the screw on the 'pod I started thinking.. hmm maybe I still do need that little metal thingy :)

Mine came from eoutlet and didn't have an adaptor either. I emailed them last week but haven't heard back from them yet.

My husband bought me mine from eoutlet too. I emailed info *at* joby.com, taking Mel's advice. I haven't heard anything back :-( Also the packaging said to read the instructions inside before first use. There were no instructions (I know, I know ... you probably don't need to read them, but still....)

Maybe eoutlet have them so cheap because they are missing everything but the actual Gorillapod? Just a theory, would have been nice to have said so on the eoutlet site though.

Good news:
I emailed eoutlet as mentioned, despite never getting a response I did receive the adaptor in the post today with a little note explaining what it was. Pleased with that.

I just received my SLR-ZOOM and wanted to mount my Manfrotto 308RC ball head on it, but the screw adapter doesn't seem to fit the ball head. The diameter seems right, but the threads don't seem to match, so I can only screw it on about half a turn before it gets stuck.
I my manfrotto head non standard or something (it fits my manfrotto tripod just fine)?
EDIT: I emailed joby and got a very quick reply that it's probably a defective adapter and that they will mail me a new one on monday. Great service!

It most likely flew off when the packaging was opened! I only just spotted the tiny little adapter screw, held on to the 'pod by a thin piece of string. I was looking for something much bigger!
