I sometimes forget to acknowledge everyones contributions individually but I wanted to let you know that I look over these pictures all the time. Gophers are pretty special animals.

About Gopher TortoiseThis group is meant to bring attention to the Gopher Tortoise (gopherus polyphemus) which is a keystone species found from South Carolina through the Gulf states to Louisiana. They have been slowly pushed out of their habitat in many parts of their range due to destruction of the pinelands and oak scrub habitat. Gopher Toroises are an interesting species and well worth saving. |
