About Individual Animals: honoring Jane Goodall
UNDER CONSTRUCTION:
The Individuality of animal fascinates me as it does many of you. Maybe I am hoping that if people come to know individuals of a species they will work harder to preserve that species, or maybe it is just intriguing to see that all animals have their own character, not just us humans.
Goodall, the mother of long term research, made it "acceptable" to study the individuality of her chimpanzees even "god forbid" name them. So I have started this group in her honor.
If you find flickr folk who have a long term relationship with a wild animal please invite them to join this group... you can use this invite sticker if you wish:

Many of you have spent time studying individuals, either in your backyards (deer raccoons etc.) or in the field (grizzlies black bears wolves whales seals etc.) It would be great to gather these in one place. In cases like Rosie, the black bear there are several of you that are photographing and observing her.
I would say no pets (though perhaps that doesn't have to be a hard fast rule), zoo animals and wild animals like Dora (latenightowl's raccoon) seem fine... I am learning a whole 'nother side to Polar Bears for example.
If you can think of other flickr folk who are doing this feel free to invite them though maybe we can work out some guidelines to ensure it is more than a passing aquaintence with the animal?
Most of us are really busy due to summer but we can poke away at it over time if you think it is worth doing... would love your feedback
