About Golden Acre Park, Leeds

It's all about Golden Acre Park, Leeds, (Duh!) plus the surrounding area Adel Dam Reservoir Reserve, Breary Marsh Nature Reserve and the North end of Meanwood Valley Trail.

For my money, the nicest public park in Leeds, set on the East side of the A660 road and covering an area of 137 acres (55 ha).

Golden Acre Park opened as a private amusement park in 1932 featuring a miniature railway, lido, swimming pool and boating lake (formed by damming Adel Beck), but closed during the World War II and was re-opened as a public park by Leeds City Council in 1945.

Breary Marsh Nature Reserve is joined to the park by a pedestrian tunnel under the A660 (Otley Road), the Leeds Country Way passes through the park and Meanwood Valley Trail links the park to Woodhouse Moor to the South.
