Dear all, I'm very pleased to announce a new milestone release in the G'MIC project, namely the 1.5.1.0 version !
Feel free to update :)

New features :

- New image gallery dedicated to the plug-in for GIMP : gmic.sourceforge.net/gimp.shtml
- New handbook in PDF format. List all G'MIC functionalities in a ready-to-print book : gmic.sourceforge.net/gmic_handbook.pdf
- New UI interface to G'MIC : ZArt (meaning "ZArt is Almost Real Time") allows to execute G'MIC commands on images from the webcam, with a nice Qt-based GUI. Thanks to Sébastien Fourey for this nice contribution.

- New command '-imagerubik3d' which creates a kind of rubik's cube object from selected images. The object has been added to the 3d filters in the GIMP plug-in as well.
- New command '-frame_cube' and its associated plug-in entry 'Arrays & Frames / Cube frame' which creates kind of 3d frames from an image (backported to 1.5.0.9 as well) (see www.flickr.com/groups/gmic/discuss/72157629080060257/ for more infos) :

Bug corrections :

- Fixed command '-plot' when trying to plot data with a single value (Thanks to Laurent Condat for having noticed that bug!).
- Fixed a lot of small bugs that were remaining in the script language interpreter.
- Fixed small bug in the CImg Library, concerning the management of very big images. This has probably several repercussions on G'MIC too. It fixes at least a bug (segfault) when trying to save large tiff files. Thanks to Jérome Ferrari for noticing this.
- Fixed bug in command '-histogram', when only one pixel level was counted.
- Fixed bad links to library files in /usr/lib (debian package).
- Fixed issues with the automatic generation of .deb packages.
- Corrected bug concerning the '-else' command, in some particular cases. The example below shows the problem :

foo=0
-if {$foo==0} foo=zero
-else foo={$foo+1} // Was trying to evaluate 'zero+1' !
-endif

- Corrected bug in command '-cumul'. The last value was not taken into account when the image size was not 2^n.

Improvements / Modifications :

- Changed slightly the API to libgmic. Integration of G'MIC features in third-party applications should be easier and more flexible.
- Substituting expressions as '@{ind,features}' have been improved. Now, 'ind' can be also an image name, and features can be a formula (as 'w+h') which will be evaluated for image [ind].
- Enable VT100 character codes by default for .deb packages, so output messages may contain bold words and colors.
- Patched the code a little bit to allow the compilation with latest version of OpenCV (had a conflict with the X11 library). Thanks to Sean Darcy for his report !
- Updated reference documentation.
- Fixed code to avoid warnings during the compilation.

Let me know when you want the new documentation proofed for English/grammar. I won't think to do it unless I get reminded.

OK, Mahvin, Thanks a lot. Maybe just the day before the final release of 1.5.1.0 would be great :)

David,

Would you give me advance notice as well? Hard to keep up otherwise. :)

Thanks,
Partha

Hi Mac gmic users,
starting from version 1.5.1.0 I will put the gmic/gmic_gimp/zart builds into one disk image file (.dmg) per OS version instead of zip files. Please try and report problems! (For testing?) gmic and zart_mac can be started from the attached disk image file as described in the README file.

For Snow Leopard (10.6) and Lion (10.7) I found on my systems that gmic and zart_mac from the Lion built are running on Snow Leopard too provided the necessary ports are installed. Please test, I plan to provide a complete Lion built and only gmic_gimp for Snow Leopard separately, gmic_gimp from Lion does not run on Snow Leopard.
