About Global Impact StudyGlobal Impact Study of Public Access to Information & Communication Technologies is a five-year, $7.2-million international research project sponsored by the Global Libraries initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Implemented by IDRC in partnership with the Technology & Social Change (TASCHA) group at the University of Washington Information School, the project examines a range of public access models — libraries, telecentres, cybercafés — investigating impact in the areas of employment and income, education, civic engagement, democracy and governance, transparency, cultural and language preservation, and health. The Global Impact Study uses an open research approach, promoting collaboration, building research capacity, and generating knowledge for better programs and policies. |
