a rejected glitch

hello boys and girls
recently i made a series of files and posted here but they where rejected. This could be a very insignificant issue due to the fact that we all know the rules. But i was following that rules, at least at the way i understand the concept of glitch.

it consisted in a series of digital photographs of sunsets altered by a download error. This files where bitmap transfered via personal messaging software from one place to another. After the file was completely downloaded the transfer is aborted. The final result is that the bitmap repeats the last horizontal downloaded pixel to complete the image dimensions. This was administrated by monitoring the downloading process to stop the transfer in a certain point of the image to create some relation between the image and the error. This files where converted to jpg for correct visualization (flickr was unable to translate in a "good way" this error)

I know that the final result can be very tricky because you can think it was made on photoshop. But you can fake a "classic" glitch too with this software. So, what is the important part here? obviously i posted this work here because i find a big relation with glitch concepts, so It seems to me that this series can be very useful in terms of discussion about glitch aesthetics.

My mistake. I wasn't sure how you made these pictures - but it did look to me like you had just used photoshop filters on the same image. If the image was created using or exploiting a "download error" then that is perfectly acceptable (doesn't matter whether the glitch was accidental or deliberate so far as I'm concerned).

So, sorry for rejecting them - please repost to the pool.

If anyone posts pictures that don't look like classic "glitches" then it is helpful - and interesting - if you mention how you came by them :)

yeah, maybe my mistake is that this kind of work need some explanation about the procces. Its kind of important.

but well, the most important part for me is the discussion about glitch art that this kind of things can generate

speaking as a software engineer (one that works with communications software) what you describe really should not happen! what program were you using? (i say this not because i doubt you, but because i think that other people will not be able to use this technique unless they use the same program you are using).

If what Cooke says is correct, then I guess those images are a double glitch! (glitch in the program and glitch in the files)

hec hec hec says:

nope, is not a double glitch
try for yourself!
the soft allow files to be incompleted and do not autodelete them (msn messenger in the other side delete every incompleted file)

(this glitch occurs only with bmp files)
