This sounds great! However, I would liek to know how similar to the micro-scale models the large recreation has to be... i.e. to how much 'creative liscence' are we entitled?
Also, although I wholehaetedly agree with all other colours being eliminated with extreme predudice, some of the ships have trans-red, dark red, and black. What's the story?
Thanks!

@: the story of the extra colors can be found in the microscale description - they are a rebuild of the Creator Cool Cars Set

Does this mean those "extra colours" ships are not allowed?
Are they "Factory" models, that have not yet proved themselves worthy of delivery in the GHL initiation ceremony, or are they stealth variants?
Are they allowed because they are in the lineup of example ships?
Are we supposed to re-colour them to the norm?
Sorry for my bureaucratic interrogation. I'd like to give it a go, but I fear my inner accountant will be too exited by all the necessary artistic licensing.

You are welcome to ask as many questions as you like, as long as they are accompanied by the proper documentation...you do have the proper documentation...don't you?
The short answer is that both Lord Pappadhum (and me) would be too lazy to build another set of those microscale GHL ships with more yellow and take another picture...
...just make your stuff "mostly yellow" and it should be okay :D

^- could't have said it better about the laziness.
The microscale ships are there as guidance, as Teikjoon said, "attempt to use their spatial problem skills". A degree of variation will definitely be involved, and it may include coloring!
However, since yellow and bley (dark or light) are GHL's corporate colors, if for some reason GHL upper management feels you have not adhered sufficiently to corporate identity, your entry may score less points than it's worth. ^__^

I do not own enough bley to build something, so I ended up doing something in LDD. In case you're curious, you can download the lxf file.
GHL is an expert in dealing with large volumes of cargo(1) since stardate 28683.2. The GHL dropship Mk 43(3) offers heavy lifting(4) capabilities, making loading of standarised containers a breeze(5). And our new Drop-Anywhere(6) service guarantees(7) deliveries on time(8).

Legal small print
(1) Refer to our Solar Mass Moving(2) corporate brochure.
(2) Note that GHL does not offer the Solar Mass Moving service since the Rebula-B supernova incident in 28684.7.
(3) Ask us about our discounted dropship parts inventory.
(4) Lamurian 6-arms lifter beast not included in the offer. The particular shape of the Mk 43 may anger your lamurian lifter beast. Limb replacement medical insurance not included in the offer.
(5) Not applicable to planets with no atmosphere.

I have a question.
What are the "rules" or "regulations" for minifigures? Is it the same thing for the vehicles (Yellow and Bley)?...because I also see the minifigs wearing black too. If you could explain all that, that would be great.

No limit to number of entries...
No you don't have to build the microscale model
Strictly speaking you don't need to include a minifig, and I guess it would be hard to get minifigs in the approved GHL colour scheme (Coast Guard torso + bley arms and legs).
You can substitute anything "blue collar" as long as it feels acceptable, such as Cole Blaq's use of a diver torso :

As it turns out, I do own enough bley to build something. So, I turned the little thingie-with-holders-on-front into a GHL utility ship / tug. With working (extensible) arms.
I might have taken one too many artistic liberties while adapting the model, but what the hell.

My GHL tug asked yesterday to make a mk.II version of it. The result, which I think is closer to the micro version, is this:
The GHL tug mk. II is, as its predecessor model, used mainly for moving cargo around a hub, although it can also be used as an utility/maintenance ship, or to haul miscellaneous items such as old spaceships. The extensible arms prove useful for handling all kinds of bulky (or dangerous) items.
Since the deployment of the mk. II, a mysterious series of accidents known as "redshirtings" have been taking place in several GHL logistics hubs. Red-shirted humanoids appear out of thin air, jump into the tug claws, and they automatically close afterwards. Blindtron™ has assured that its Optical Sensor Array does *not* contain a software bug which causes the claw to suddenly close in the presence of a red object.
However, some surviving red-shirted individuals, after being questioned, revealed they came from a place called "the enterprise". Thus, the GHL Conspiracy Department thinks that this is part of a conspiracy to increase GHL internal handling costs and time, and thus destroy the whole company.
Here we can see a GHL employee gently scraping off the results of a recent redshirting incident:

I guess you can either use it to extend the length of your pro account, or give it to someone who doesn't have one.
But no, I won't be doing any kind of "similar value gift exchange". Sorry.

Astro Train Supply Ship
This Space Freight Ship is one a few converted munition supply ships left over from the colonial wars. Upgraded and updated they have been renamed Astro Train Supply Ships. They now provide the back bone for the distrubution nework reaching the distance transfer hubs with cargo.
Nicknamed the "space turtle" the A.T.S.S. was originally designed to dock underneath larger war ships to re-supply them during missions, thus the flat top and sliding cargo bay doors. The retro-fit included adding the cargo crane that folds into the cargo bay when in flight. The A.T.S.S. not only transports various cargo conatainers but also has 2 giant storage tanks capable of carrying tons of liquid and gas cargo at extreme hot or cold temperatures. The tanks also allow for extra fuel storage to reach those remote hubs.
The A.T.S.S. is operated by a 2 man crew. The interior cabin includes a bunk and reclining bucket seat chairs to allow the crew to get sufficient rest in accordance to Space Transport regulations. The GHL is one of the Galaxy's best employers and looks out for its employees. You may also notice the GHL is an equal opportunity employer.
Other features of the A.T.S.S. include retractable landing gear with shock absorbers to insure the fragile cargo remains inctact while the ship adjusts to the varying gravity of each planet. The Thrusters are also very manouverable allowing precise docking.

This is my second spaceship. I really enjoyed building it and I liked the theme so much that I made another vehicle and a small scene: www.flickr.com/photos/biczzz/4915915651/
Edit: this was based on the same ship used in the example, but with the red exhausts.

This is my entry, the GHL cargo ship, based upon the microscale ship located on the far left, second from the top.

The GHL cargo ship is the GHL equivalent of the old Earth archetype, the white van.
Piloted by a crew of two, this cargo ship is designed to ship cargo wherever and whenever it is needed.

View more photos of the GHL Cargo Ship and the two GHL Power Loaders which were built to accompany the cargo ship.

Re: contest closing date/time
All,
please note Milestone M1 (closing date) of project "Contest", scheduled for the 31st of August, is rapidly approaching (even more rapldly so since the unfortunate accident with the time-o-matic on the labs on planet Bughaff).
You still have approximately 3 full days to enter. Please note that according to SOP 322-5, if you live in the western arms of the galaxy (such as the USA, Kanada, and Latin Amerika systems) you may not be able to play smart using the last hours of your day. Said SOP clearly states that that the 31st of August will end at 23.57 ZULU TIME (GMT+0).
No entries (or whines) will be accepted after 23.57 Zulu time of the 31st of August. However please note that if you still find this thread open after that date (e.g. because we did not manage to fix the time-o-matic issue) you may still post your entry. Just play smart, and don't count on it!
Kind regards,
GHL senior management

Anyone who wants:
- to blow his own horn or brag about his own MOC
- to mock or insult another contestant
- to comment or endorse someone's entry
- to bootlick or bribe the judges (Teikjoon and me)
should start doing so ASAP
