I decided to get a study WP blog so that I could address adding ringcode to that specific type of blog.

I have blogged with www.blogsome.com, which is hosted by WP and you have total access to your template files etc --- so you control what your blog looks like, I highly recommend the service if you are looking for a free blog. IT is much superior to other free platforms because all the Wp functions -- categories, auto pinging, pages that are separate from your posts that you can use at your leisure.

The wordpress.com hosted blogs really surprised me --- there is no file access, or file storage. Due to this lameness --- a future member of the ring was having trouble adding his ringcode.

So I investigated and found 2 solutions:

#1. Use your category & links

Log into your account, click on the tab titled "links"; click on "Link categories" :

Add Your category title , I entered "Blog Rings":

Make sure to check the "image" Box, as this allows images to be displayed in your sidebar under that category:

Now once you have created that specific category --- Click on "Add Link". Add the link url make sure to add your site ID number!! Or the code will not work and Title (I dressed mine up with symbols, on either side).Make sure to selected the right category. Keep adding until you have all the links. Leave the button for last [see below](it will be displayed at the top this way !)

Add the url for the homepage; The name; Once this is done scroll down until you see "advanced " --- add the button url, make sure to check "visible" (yes):

Mine was done backwards but here is an example of how it could look:

#2 Make a special page:
You can make "pages" which are not considered posts, these will show as links in the sidebar.

Click on "Manage"; click on "pages"; Click on "create new page":

Once in the page editor, click on the tree symbol which is for inserting images:

a pop-up will appear, add your button url:
ScreenShot179

This is how it will appear in the editor, Do Not attempt to move it with your curser-- this will just missize the image!
ScreenShot180

Click on the "html" link, add your links where you want them displayed, in relationship to the image [Do not paste them into the editor, skipping the html step will strip the code!]:

Once you have pasted the code into your editor, you will need to delete the two areas of the ringcode which say "your number" OR "SITE ID". (as shown in red below)

and replace it with your site I.d you recieved in your approval email. It will be a number. The finished urls should look like that below (only using your OWN Site ID #)

Click update when the link code is in place.

Add whatever stuff about the ring you want on the page, or make this a blog ring page for your other rings...

If you are using a page to display the code --- please add the url under your main blog url where it says "Ring code Url" in your ringsurf.com account page for Blogs That Flickr:
