About German Food Culture

... It's more diverse than you think!

I've been around the world and back and have noticed the very limited ideas people have about foods prepared and eaten in the German-speaking world. Essentially, what is sold as German food outside of Germany in actuality is mostly Bavarian/Southern/Alpine food. Bavaria is only one of the 16 federal states and each region of the country has its own specialities. There is great culinary diversity that has long incorporated foreign influences as well - as it is the case in most of Europe today.

This group aims to show this diversity - the typical and not-so-typical dishes of Germany and the German-speaking world.
