How do YOU select your coordinates?
|
Often times when I am Gio Tagging I have to ask myself, "Do I tag this from where I was standing at the time of the picture or the location of the subject matter?". Not sure if there is a "right" answer...How do you choose?

I tend to choose the location of the camera. If the camera has GPS capability such as the Nikon P6000, D90 + GP1 etc then this is what would be recorded automatically.
If you use a stand alone GPS, then the track log files will give a similar location when "time-matched" with the images.
On occasions I use the post-code (zip code) - perhaps not alway as precise as the previous.

Location of the camera.
As recommended by www.panoramio.com, as made easy by GPS tracking (in-camera and otherwise), as a favour to anyone wishing to find the same view, and as a definite single location (because your subject matter might cover a large area and/or cover more than one item of interest).
I think that pretty much covers it.
